Did you set the speed in the BIOS? There should be an option somewhere: in my BIOS I have to specifically set it to USB1.1+2.0 and in another option I can set it to "Hi-Speed" or "Full-Speed", where Hi-Speed is the choice I need (480Mbps v. 12MBps)

I've got a similar problem. My BIOS settings are fine, but only half of my USB ports are recognized as USB 2.0(they should all be 2.0). I can't force the 1.1 controller to update to the 2.0 drivers. I've updated chipset drivers, zero-filled my hard drive and reinstalled windows(twice!), and I have no idea what else to do.
