Man, this sucks, ALOT.

this is what happened.

One of the people I know just built a computer, and my other friend is going to use his unactivated Windows XP Pro.

So I format and install windows XP Pro in my Sig rig, with his HDD, so he can have the HDD and plug in and go. well, I screwed up, I activated it accidentally.

So, can I unactivate the windows XP pro so he can use it?

not so much Un-Activate, but when he plugs teh HDD with XP PRo into his computer, will he beable to activate?

Have you just got a hard copy of XP pro?

Because, i dont know if i am allowed to say this, but there are progs you can download to make XP believe that it is activated, when really the countdown has just been deleted...

Bit worried about saying that, but anyone who knows anything about the internet knows that you can bypass ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!

Just give the guy that wants to use it the cd...he installs it..and activates it again. Simple. If it doesn't activate just call microsoft and fix the problem.

but he dosent know how to install it. That is why I got his HDD.

Now I woried becuse i activated it with my sig rig, and I cannot chat with M$ to fix the issue.

but, will it be possible for him to plug in the HDD, and Re-Activate?

I know at work after a major hardware change Windows will ask to be reactivated. If that doesn't work just reinstall windows in your rig, but do not activate it. I hope your two rigs are very smiler or else he will have tons of issues when he boots it up on his system.

LOL, he doesn't know how to press the on button on his computer, then insert the CD into the optical drive and follow the on-screen prompts..? No disrespect intended, but installing Windows is very simple, if he can operate a computer, he should be able to install it. Why didn't you just go to his house and install it on his computer there..? I'm sure he would appreciate being shown how to do an install; its one of the basics any computer user should know.

If you have a legitimate copy of Windows, you'll have to explain the (somewhat dubious) circumstances to MS and ask them to help solve the problem. If not, you'll need to search around the internet for a solution. Nobody on Overclock.net will help you with any kind of illegitimate software work-around, or any solution involving one.

You need to speak with MS about it, but as far as I know there isn't anything (legitimate) you can do to solve the problem unless MS help.

Just uninstall it and then give it back to him..then have him install it himself. If he "can't do it"...he's one of those people that's just a lazy ass and doesn't wanna do anythign themselves if they dont' have to.
