__________________Iv recently reformatted my computer but by installing a new OS since the data I had in My Documents were too precious to lose! So I only deleted the Windows folder for that OS thinking that it will make sure the folder isnt private anymore. Guess what it still is and its still is, Im not sure of what to do because I could be corrupting my OS right now if I did anything. So my problem: Old My Document folder is Private and I still denied by OS so is inaccessible Solution Im looking for: How to rid my system completey of my Old Win XP so I can access that My Docments folder. (Remember I only deleted the Old OS Windows Folder on the new OS not the OS it self) Thanks! -Malachor

Going Broke Overclocking

You could get Linux "Knoppix" boot from the CD-ROM and transfer files.
It's a temp install and runs from the CD-ROM so you have nothing to install or remove. Don't be supprised if you have everything including sound and internet access, it's rather amazing ![]()

Further Instructions
|
Change the owner. Go to Tools > Folder Preferences (?) and then disable simple file sharing. Then move onto the folder you want to 'own'. Go to its properties field and then go to permissions and then Owner. Change the owner to you. You will now have access to the files.
Sorry, if this is a little off - I'm linux only atm, otherwise I would be more precise

Bump...
Ok now I got this error. I put all permission on full access. I get this with some programs, I dont get why its like this I looked through many threads and microsofts website. As the files around the program work I do not know why the file it self isnt accessable. This happened to some of my files too so I cant open them up at all, even max permissions set like everything you guys said. I still get the same message, its the one I attached right below. I cant seem to use the program I have full access permissions. Thanks!

Simply giving yourself full permission i would uninstall that program and reinstall it.
