Umm I think it might work, but HDMI would be the best way to go. If your monitor has it...

my HDTV has HDMI although my 360 does not have HDMI. Without HDMI is it even possible to get 1080P with my 360 like at all?

1080i is the best you can do. I think*

My friend just sold his old 360 and got the new one so he could have HDMI.

I *may* be wrong.

You can get 1080p with vga, component and hdmi, as long as your tv supports 1080p resolution.

As far as I know, you will not get 1080p signal out of component. I install home theaters and hook up hd gear for a living and none of the tvs i have installed wi;; accept 1080p over component, only 1080i. i tried sending 1080p to my tv on my 360 through component and it will not work. I do not know about vga, DVI maybe, but I dont think vga can send the 1080p signal. not sure on that one

Dont waste your money on the hdmi system, or a vga cord, just hook it up through the component cables and set the system to 720p which will look better for games...I feel at least. and yes your 1080i tv SHOULD be able to accept 720p signal

I'm getting 1080p over component with my PS3, so it's not a limitation of the component cable. However I do remember reading that the x360 would only send 1080p via the HDMI cable?

Also about the VGA, if you mean the VGA connection for a normal CRT monitor, that is easily capable of 1080p and much beyond. Again though, this is the connection's abilities, I can't vouch for the x360 supporting them fully.

Interesting to hear on the PS3, what type of tv do you have? It seems as though every product we hook up, the tvs always require hdmi for a 1080p signal. I personally have yet to see anything run 1080p over component video cables.

i started googling, apparently the vga does hd, i guess it makes sense since a computer monitor deals with resolutions, I guess its a matter of making sure youre monitor runs a specific resolution.

My setup is acually ps3 > component cables > VGA box > 19" CRT computer monitor. It's very possible that alot of TV's don't like to do 1080p over the component for some reason, could be something people need to be carefull about if you want to run a games console on the HDTV.

According to this review, the xbox360 VGA cable does not support 1080i or p .
