A dog kinda chewed on the cord for my mic and it doesn't work anymore. He didn't chew through all the way, though. There appears to be a separate inner wire that was unharmed. I'd like to repair the outer copper wire, but I don't want to cut the inner wire because I don't know what's in there. Anyone knows if it's safe to just cut it open and do some splicing? Or is there a better way I'm not thinking about?

If I were you, I'd just splice the wires back together.

Why buy a new mic when I can just fix it? Sure money ain't no thang right now, but I'd rather save the ~$60 for something else ... like GHWT ... which I've already reserved and paid for but whatever.
And I want to splice the wires together, but there's a separate wire inside that's intact. The dog didn't chew through all the way, just the outer wire. And I don't want to cut the inner wire if I don't have to.

You can use the XBox Live headset mic too, if you somehow screw up fixing your mic. Any USB mic will work, actually.

Is it really that much($60), i could swear you can get a standard USB mic for like 15.00. For 60.00 i would not buy a new one either. I only mentioned buying a new one because i thought they were cheap. I use my Xbox headset to sing when i am drumming...it works as well as you would expect a cheap headset to work.
Here, i thought they were only like 20.00. If it looks like something that can easily be fixed, i say splice it and fix it. If you may ruin it or mess something up, just spend the 20.00 on a used one.

I'm sure I can splice it. The Marine Corps taught me how. I just need to ask my dad where his soldering iron and solder is.
