So i got gutiar hero and i was wondering if wanted to get rock band 2 only the game will it work the guitar hero guitar

If its for Xbox 360 then yes, except IMO the best part of Rock Band is the drums and the whole "band" experience in general.

Doesn't matter if its for 360 or not....as long as the guitar hero guitar is for the same platform as the rock band game then you can use it. Even for ps2/ps3.

Well unless something changed since release, there was a scuff over drivers for GH guitars and compatibility with RB for PS3. I THINK that RB guitars might work for GH (don't quote me) but it doesn't work the other way around. Trust me, if I could be using a GH guitar, I would be. I hate that RB one.

It appears a few things have changed:
1. Apparently the RB guitar isn't compatible with GH (my bad)
2. As of a recent patch, GH controls ARE compatible with RB (source) - I don't know about RB2 though
