How would I know the date if I saw them in store?

Also, they do not need to make three different power supplies. There are only two different versions, and the latest version is included in Jasper revision packages. The original power supply also works with Jasper consoles, so I do not see the reason unless it's backstock trying to be cleared.

I never stated they were still making them. If you've ever worked Retail you know it's normal to clear backstock to make room for new merchandise.

Ultra helpful guide, thanks!

I've got an out-of-warrantee 360 Premium/Normal.. What are the main diffrences between this and the Arcade versions? Are they essentially identical aside from the Arcade not having a hard drive? Can i use all my cables (except the power block) from my premium 360?

there is a hole on the box where you look into to see that, and you can see the amperage through the same hole

I know that. Again, I was not looking at/for the date. All I look for are the amps on the 12V.

If you get a new Arcade, you can use all of your cables, even the power brick with your new Arcade. The older power brick is 175W, the new one is 150W. Your console will only use what it needs, so you can still use the old one with the new console, but you can't use the new arcade consoles power brick with old consoles. Also, if you get an Arcade console, it comes with everything you need.

If it's a Premium, it most like is older than the newer Pro revisions, which means it's most likely a Zephyr revision or possibly a Falcon, but I am not sure. Again, if you happened to sell that console, you can pick up an Arcade for half the price, just keep your HDD because the Arcade does not include one, but the newer Arcades have onboard 256MB of Flash, and no other 360s have that.

The main differences are a faster disk drive, no hard drive, onboard 256MB flash, a newer motherboard with both cpu and gpu at 65nm, and a less powerful and slightly smaller power brick.

Seeing as i've got the functioning hard drive from my current 360, i think i'll go pick up an Arcade tomorrow, and maybe Skate 2.

Are there any difference between all this HDMI outputs and whatnot? I've never really researched them to be honest.

Cheers Halifax.

They've all had HDMI outputs since the Core was renamed Arcade, and they all function the same.

The HDMI output in all 360s now is identical. There is no higher HDMI output or lower HDMI output. Every 360 out now includes an HDMI port.

Make sure when looking for an Arcade tomorrow that you go by my thread. Make sure to check in the hole on the side for the 12.1A listed. There are still some out there that do not say 12.1A. You can be 99% positive for a Jasper if you get the "Holiday 2008 Value Pack" or whatever it says on the label on the back. The Arcade that comes with Sega Superstars Tennis is the Holiday pack, and is almost 100% a Jasper. Just make sure to check in the hole. You may have to press down on the console slightly from the hole. If you can see the 12.1A then it's guaranteed.

if you guys want a jasper here's a pic of the sticker on the box, look for a lot number that is either that or or higher. This is the sticker off of my jasper 60gb pro

In the Last picture you can see how they changed the color scheme of the harddrive, i like th old way with the darker shiny grey

That doesn't mean yours is the very first lot number to be a Jasper. It could be lower than that. The most sure way to tell is by seeing 12.1A.

Great pictures though. If you could resize them that would be great, or please just link to the photos as they are extremely large and are making the thread too wide.

yeah, i just realized how big that one is! The reason i said to get a number higher then that is because it would be a guarantee its a jasper, plus i got this one over a month ago, meaning there should be higher lot numbers already
