I used this method and it worked for me, not sure if it is the xclamp method but it replaces the x clamps completely .
all the parts i got from lowes.

there is the towel method as well. wrap 3 towel around the 360 for 25-30 min while it is on. then after that let it cool for 15

I've used the X-Clamp Mod before. I no longer do this. I just replace the old heat sink compound with new quality compound and heat up the Xbox with either itself without fans or a heat gun.

Success rate is the exact same. Never had a RROD return. On about 50+ Xbox's.

I fixed one on June 10, it still works.

Basically, I messed up the parts needed, and managed to do it with washers and oversized machine screws. It was abit hard to fit it all in the case - but it worked.

1) Remove X-Clamp
2) Use Machine screws/Washers to anchor the heatsink down
3) I used a heatgun on the motherboard for 5-6 mins
4) Works!

don't wrap it in a towel, that will overheat EVERYTHING, you only want to overheat the GPU, but there are more than one accepted method of doing so.

I just used a pdf guide i found that involved placing a machine screw through a metal flat washer, a nylon flat washer, the motherboard, a nylon flat washer, a flat washer and the Heatsink. (for all 4 screws).

then i used the overheating method at IIlama x360 page. but i dont have enough experience to say which is the best method. I have done this method successfully on 2 xboxes but had to do the 12v fan mod to keep them rrod free.

I can't find the exact sizes of the screws and washers, but you can buy the kit of Ebay for less that £3 or in bulk (100 of everything) for less than £20.
I have brought them in the past and it has had mixed success. I've fixed two Xbox 360, well another was beyond my ability to repair and no amount of X-clamp could fix it.
