anyone having problems getting on halo 3 match making right now, my friend and I have been searching for almost a half hour and it will find games but nothing will connect

after a while it iwll say unable to match: there may be not enough players in this playlist

it's doing this regardless of game type and he says other people on his friends list are experiencing the same thing

please help or let me know so I dont have to go back to playing boring firefight

Haven't you ever seen messages about the "host leaving the game" or something along those lines, talking about the host? The game is hosted on someone's console (someone who's playing in that match, of course). Most 360 games are done that way, it's all peer to peer. I know some PS3 games have dedicated servers, but I think some also do the peer-to-peer thing too (I'm not sure though, someone correct me if I'm wrong). And of course PC games are hosted on servers (I haven't come across a P2P PC game, personally).

I think halo has dedicated servers just they need one host that has the best connection to connect everyone else to the server they got connected to. That why when some one quits and they were the original host it sayd connected to new host in the middle of a match. the new host is the one iwth the 2nd best connection then.

No, it is peer to peer, I believe the host is usually within set network parameters though, so if they leave and someone else meets them the host is switched. This is the reason there is a penalty for leaving a game, it could cause everyone else to disconnect as well.

isnt there a matchmaking server the coordinates all the peer to peer activity, either way that was down or something earlier and reall put my panties in a bunch
