After getting my X360 hooked up HDM>VGA I set 1680x1050 which my monitor shows. Yet I saw a 1920x1080 option as well, thought I try it out. and It worked! It showing in 1920x1080 yet, my monitor when on PC can only display 1680x1050!

1680x1050 is downscaled 1080p, which is why it displays in 16:9. Basically, most xbox games are upscaled 720p, so getting that 1080p setting might just be an unnecessary pipe dream.

you need to select a little box that says " show resolutions not supported by monitor"
My monitor does 1080p but it wont tell my graphics card, your monitor does the same. EDIT: the box says "hide modes this monitor cant display".
