Default WMC Extender help with 360

Hey all

I'm now a proud owner of a 360 thanks to my girlfriend.

I'm trying to setup the extender in WMC. I have Vista Ultimate running which is supposed to be compatible with Xbox 360 and is supposed to be able to use the Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender device. The trouble is that the computer does not recognize the 360 as an extender device (DESPITE being able to see it on the network) and the xbox is not able to see the computer as a media center pc.

When I go through the Add Extender wizard in Media Center it takes me through the motions and then I get the message 'Extender Not Found'

Any help will be appreciated.

I set this up at my buddies place a few nights ago. I could not get the extender to install either but found after rebooting each device I could play files from the PC on the xbox. In this case it was an AVI file and I played it through the media PC option on the xbox. Sorry, don't have an xbox myself so can't physically try it ATM.

Did you try updating the windows media player and adding your files to the library? I believe there is a tab in windows media player to share your library on your network. Thats how my xbox 360 finds my media files on my computer when it is on.

You do have the 360 and pc on same router right for me when i turn my 360 on vista auto tells me theirs a extender ready even tho i dont use that. I just use windows media player to share the files add some files then on your 360 go to videos and the pc name should show up.
