Default Installing games to HDD (whats the point)?

Hi,

Just installed Street Fighter IV to my 360's HDD and it still requires me to have the disk in the drive to play... so what's the point?!

Its supposed to make the game load faster...I saw no need for the waste of space after doing it with COD4...Load times were still the same....

It's for verification that you actually have the original disc. It's the same thing with most PC games that require you to keep the disc in the drive.

The only thing that installing to the drive does is make the optical drive spin up less which means less likelihood of getting the deep ring on your disc.

IDK about the speed of the xboxs DVD drive vs the HDD, but supposedly the HDD is faster at transferring files to the RAM / Vid card.

With a 360 the point should be so you don't have to listen to the worlds loudest optical drive

If only they had NOCD cracks for the 360.

Off subject from the 360:
All of my games are legitimate on my PC, but I do "crack" them all. No need for disc, no need for internet connection. And no need for the companies to know the exact moment when I play a game, none of their business. I even have Steam cracked so it does not require an internet connection. This can be turned on/off at will. Much faster loading.

(disclaimer: there is NOTHING about pirating in my post, it's about protecting my privacy by altering legitimately purchased products.)

No, there's a great point to that. The drive totally takes away from gameplay.

I admit I have only had it a few months and played only a limited amount of games but I have not noticed this

I always try to install games that I play for optimal loading time and yes it does help with the noise.

It's not the best comparison, however when I play Fifa '09 sometimes I can hear the 360 working much louder (as it's not installed to the HDD) whereas when I play a game like Oblivion/Halo 3 the sound from the 360 is not as noticeable.
