It froze and when I restarted it I got the three red rings. I did the towel trick and now my 360 keeps freezing up when I do simple tasks like pressing the middle button. I've been reading up on this problem and it seems as though my xbox may have a heat issue. How would I solve this?

Take the xbox apart, remove heatsinks, apply OCZ Freeze, iC7 or AS5. Reseat Heatsinks, continue xbox playing.

the main problem with the 1st and 2nd generation of xbox360 is that the screws that maintain the cpu's heatsink are loosing so:
that's it man be quick to be ready to play some Modern Warfare 2!!!

If it is still under warranty, save yourself headaches, and just call them. Only open the console up if you do not have any warranty on it, and you really have nothing to lose.

don't worry dude your xbox will survive and IF (i meen IF) it doesn't work, at least you tried what's in your power: the worst case scenario: 2 hours lost and a 10 $ thermal paste tube that can still be used (if some left)

TRUST ME, I've "fixed" over 50 xboxs with many different ways.. overheating, thermal paste, x clamp mod, heatgunning... they will all work although some better than others, but your xbox will die soon after. I usually got about 2 weeks or a month more out of an xbox before its funeral. It will die; all xbox 360s will, even the new "jasper" revisions as they have heat problems as well. Ive had one of them die on me.
