I'm watching some short music videos, or full out sd and hd movies from a folder file structure from my laptop shared to my xbox 360.
What i'm seeing is visually it goes smoooth, sound also, couple seconds later, mass stuttering, then it "catches up", then repeats, smooths out, and same issue. I even tried watching 8 Mile which suddenly started to go smooth... It's very random which videos work and which don't... in terms of stability. My network consists of, DL - 4500 Gamer Lounge Wireless N Router, DL 8 Port Lan Switch. Xbox 360 is using HDMI (1.3) to 47" Olevia TV. Set for 1080p This is the "Arcade" edition of the 360. I do have a cooler, and there's a tower fan right beside the xbox 360 rotating in the room. In room temp = 75 Degrees Fahrenheit. My laptop IS on wireless (wireless N, full bars), I'm on win7 7600. Got it free from a microsoft event held in my city (they pass them out like candy at these events, shirts included! hehe). - When accessing windows media center with the xbox 360 (loading it, menu, general use) the response time to any of my xbox controlers, wireless and wired, have "lag" time, where it takes a few seconds to clue in. This all started to happen Just after the xbox 360 update came out the past few days... And my laptop, when sharing, is at 3-5% cpu useage. Wireless network utilization is around 1-3 % of 117-130 mbps connected (primarily sitting 130mbps). 56 Processes running as I have msn open and the one firefox window. No file transfers, and no other programs running. Is there any way I can find something to properly download through the xbox market place that i'm not aware of that may assist me? Or anything else? Muchly appreciated. - Le_Loup

Think its probably Windows 7, for some reason I always had trouble streaming with it. Although Media Center is way too slow on the xbox anyways.

Below are my system specs, from what i'm streaming from if that helps any bit. And i'm trying to avoid using windows media center, but rather the file sharing/folder sharing sense like the old windows xp networking allowed so fluently and easily like ftp browsing practically. - Le_Loup

Well if your wireless, first thing id try is wired to see if it changes at all. If that doesnt work its most likely the laptop.

Cpu on the laptop not hitting any higher then 3-5%, and the wireless useage even lower when streaming. What's even more odd, is every odd test with checking "bandwidth" on the xbox... It gets little to no signal, even though i've rebooted and re checked all router configurations, tried a new router, etc.
Is there anything on the xbox I can do to fix it? Thanks, - Le_Loup

Like I said try to wire it normal with ethernet and see if it works, if it works then the laptop isnt sending the video fast enough. That could be hd problems or wireless card.

I've previously done that as well. Lan line to laptop, lan line to xbox. Have tried crossover cable. And there's plenty of bandwidth available on the wireless useage. It's using 2-5mbps OF 130mbps.
I've tried older drivers, and newer drivers for both lan and wireless. And I still get the odd choppiness with the xbox itself. Is there any support tips to fix my xbox or enhance it? I'm trying to make it work the best it can be, and it still has intermittent laggy menu's also... I'd rather not make a long distance call to xbox support, and go through 30 mins of button mashing just to "attempt" to get a real person... Any suggestions please?

Has to be your hd speed then, idk if your using the external drive or what but if the video is laggy then the bandwidth is not what it should be.

Question's.
1. Have you read the posts entirely? 2. Have you run a 1080p or equivilant video on a celeron lately? Because that's the best translation that I can come up with... When streaming video had to be "buffered" 30 seconds in advance just to clear out any of the lag, that's what it is feeling like for my playback on the xbox. And the network is fine, the harddrive is fine, the laptop is fine. I've checked for viruses, etc. The question again, and I reiterate again. What can I do on the xbox to try and troubleshoot there, as I can play games, download or whatever, but I never tried troubleshooting before. Any suggestions anyone? - Le_Loup

I dont think you get what im saying, the laptop is just transmitting data, not using processor or video, just hard drive speed. So if your using a external drive the speeds plus latency could be your problem. Theres nothing you can do on the actual xbox as that isnt the source of the problem.
