I used to be a console gamer until couple of years ago, when I decided that I wasn't interested anymore... I used to have three XBOXs, two XBOX360s, and I used to host HALO parties and other games as well.
__________________I've always been into racing games, and I just picked up the copy of Forza3... I bought a PS3 just for GT, but decided that PS3's online play just isn't fun... Anyway, my XBOX360 has been collecting dust in my entertainment center, and I dusted it off, cleaned it, and started to play... I have to say... No matter how much I feel like PC games are just as good, the overall gaming experience just isn't up to par with XBOX360s... I am having a great time playing, and although I am not very good yet, I am still having a blast... I haven't even turned on my PC for the last few days, and I have been just using my MacBook Pro as my main PC. Although graphics aren't just up to par with my main rig, the simplicity and ease of use is just fantastic. Streaming 1080p into my LCD monitor, I am SO into the actual gameplay that I don't even notice the slight jagged edges that inevitably exists without AA and AF. Kinda sad that I have dumped almost 6Gs into my PCs (I have multiple PCs BTW with 2x i7 rigs, 3x E8400 rigs, all ready for battle) in the last year or so, and I am resorting back to my old XBOX360 with loud ass DVD drive... Still quieter than the Panaflos I am using with my main rig though... ![]() If anyone is feeling me on this... Please post your rejoice with your consoles... My XBOX360 has just turned all my PCs into REALLY fast internet appliances...

This is essentially what has happened with me and my PS3...albeit i am content and impressed with PSN(How does it displease you?
)I haven't even tried getting into a group or making friends on the likes of steam or xfire on the PC so far...i enjoy my single player titles a lot more on the PC such as Dragon Age and Oblivion/Fallout 3 due to mods and graphical enhancements albeit i haven't been able to sit down and really enjoy COD4 or COD5 on the PC like i have the console....its not that i am bad at the game but the PC community is not the most open and welcome place...its hard to find a good teammate to stick with through your games and finding a friend is just a joke on the PC... I love hitting that match making button in a game and getting thrown into a room full of people with mics and finding someone i think is pretty good or is fun to play with and all i do is hit a few buttons and i can join that guy/girl anytime in a game or spark up a conversation with ease via chat or messaging...you can load up Xfire/Steam or an IM client to do these tasks but really how smoothly does it go? We can trash the hardware in consoles all day and point out every last graphical flaw and fps drop but in the end consoles are always ready to go and just so much more easier to get into and a lot more sociable IMO Fair play with everyone on controllers is nice as well

PSN just doesn't have the appeal that the XBOX LIVE community seems to have. I don't use it to keep in touch with friends or anything, but as far as how it all comes together and integration with the games is just fantastic. YES, it DOES cost $50 a year, but that is a small price to pay considering the level of polish. That's about how much I would save in a month using XBOX for my games in power bill alone...

From what i see with MW2's release is that both the developers and sony are working more and more on the XMB and game integration With MW2 you can now be at main menu of the PS3 and if someone is in a game on MW2 with open slots you can click on there name and join them which starts MW2 up and the connection begins Of course this is a stage of infancy compared to some of what i have seen with Live but then again M$ does rake in from those subscriptions and has been out there quite a bit longer than the new PSN

You sir, are a trader to your own kind. How could you! All kidding aside, I have both consoles and I use both pretty often thanks to game fly. All three have advantages and disadvantages. For instance, I can not play a shooter on a console. I sent Kill Zone 2 back to game fly after the third level. I tried to do it, I really did. They just stink on controllers. Halo was the only exception. There is no way around it. That being said, there are a lot of games That are only available on the console platforms. Halo was the only exception. I love the PS3's bluray and sony games and I love xbox's netflix and media center extender. Make no mistake though, the PC can do everything they can, just better and that why I prefer gaming on the PC. It's also why I hate Apple.

I actually found it the other way around. Instead of getting an xbox, since most of the games are on the PC as well I just got an xbox360 controller and stuck a GPU into my HTPC. All the games can be launched from media center, it's extremely quiet (especially compared to an xbox), its got plenty of other console & PC games, and I never need to get up and stick a DVD in to play anything. So overall I find it to be a lot more convenient - a DVR, Blu Ray Player, Web Browser, Xbox360, NES, SNES, PSX, PS2, Gameboy, Game Gear, Genesis, N64, Atari, Arcade Machine, and gaming PC all in one neat little package.

But, I decided that TV should be TV (my wife is a remote hog), and PC should be PC. The only action my 55" 1080p LCD gets is Wii love with my wife and friends... Once I start bringing my PCs out in the living room, my wife will start to store her scrapbooking crap in my office, which is a big no no... When you have as many laptops and PCs as I do, one starts to wonder why I would use the TV as my internet appliance... But honestly, I am absolutely head over heels right now about rediscovering my old stuff again... I have even started to breakout my Dreamcast and Super Nintendo, hooking it up to my office TV...

But nah I hear you on that, I've got like 10 computers around the house too, 3 of which aren't used anymore (which reminds me, I need to sell them before they become obsolete lol). But it's just like we do with servers for companies - the more servers can be consolidated, the easier it is to manage and the cheaper it is to own and run. Same goes with a home network. Instead of having every gaming console separate, and using cheap devices to stream media that may or may not end up incompatible with the file formats within just a few years, and DVRs that don't let you do anything with what you record, when you configure everything as a single homogeneous network (as in - everything run by PCs) it becomes a million times more convenient. Then again, scrapbooking in your office can be a lot worse than consoles....lol

__________________![]() But in all honesty I 100% agree with everything you said, and most of the things said by Rewindlabs as well. I think it is a lot easier on consoles to just get an ad-hoc group together and jump from match to match. Also, I don't know how it is on the PS3 but on the 360 about 90% of the people have mics which makes the game a ton more fun imho. Sometimes you get the idiots who just make noise (2 button click mute FTW) but most of the time it is just good to chat it up with other players. And it is SSOSOOOOOOO much easier.
