I gained very little on my 7870k going past 900 MHz iGPU speed. Going for more speed made since on my A10-7700k with the reduced shader count, but with 512 shaders . . . not so much.

I think it really is a matter of courses for horses - it depends what software you are running. This chart for the A10-7870K of the effect of increasing CPU, RAM or GPU frequency in a range of benchmarks shows each of these frequencies can produce a substantial overclock, depending on the benchmark, reaching maximums of 122%, 146% and 134% for CPU, RAM and GPU respectively.

 

The table is based on a project I ran in August 2015,  involving 1404 runs of 39 benchmarks producing 2880 results where the detailed results can be examined here.

Just want to add, People that were worried about the break down voltage.
Mines been going strong 1.58V 4.8ghz since I got it would be coming up 4 years soon.
