Since this seems to be related...

Just bought Process Lasso Lifetime License.

Anybody know if the dies on Threadripper follow this pattern?

0-2-4-6-8-10-12-14 on die1
16-18-20-22-24-26-28-30 on die2

With the odd numbers being the SMT cores?

Seems like that pattern would make sense, to me anyway. I'm running memory in Die (Local) mode and I want to see if there's any advantage to keeping my games/programs on one die only.

This may be a way to make memory speed possibly irrelevant with Ryzen in workloads that only need half the cores?

I would love to see some gaming benches with low end ram and high end ram comparison with affinity set and not. I only have one kit which is 3000mhz 15 16 16 16 (OC to 15 15 15 15) but could I just down-clock and up-CAS to perform these tests?
This makes sense to me. I was getting these FPS drops in World of Tanks with my Ryzen 1700 and GTX 1080. I then overclocked my G.Skill Flare X RAM from 2400 to 2933 and I no longer get FPS drops. The game is limited to 120 FPS maximum and sometimes this would drop to 80 FPS. Not anymore. It's pretty much pegged to 115-120 FPS.

By the way, if anybody is having those "pauses" when the CPU/system is heavily loaded with stress testing programs ... Process Lasso solved it for me.

I had it with two different Ryzen 1700 CPUs and two different Asus Hero boards, plus my new 1950X+Taichi board. It was most obvious in programs that show a real-time log of what's going on, like RealBench. You could see definite pauses in the log for several seconds in a row, and then it would "catch up" to show you what it was doing while the system was paused. It wouldn't happen with games or any normal programs -- only stress testing stuff. Another program you could see it in is Intel Burn Test -- the flame would pause its animation for several seconds every so often. I'm assuming it was doing it in most stress programs but it wasn't obvious because there wasn't a log or animation that would show it.

It must have been something in the Windows Scheduler because the pauses are now gone. I think the ProBalance part of Process Lasso is what fixed it.

Thanks @Neoony !

Yes. But it never caused the tests to fail. Same with benchmarks -- it would freeze completely and then catch up when it resumed.

But with Process Lasso it doesn't do that anymore. Wish I would have tried that back when I had my R7 1600 system.

Would be cool if some tech youtuber could do some analysis about this finding.

message techtubers. that is how they get assistance on video ideas. or social media and send them links to the threads

I am currently testing process-lasso, as I am quickly growing tired of setting affinity each time a certain program launches.

I just need to find a way to make process-lasso do NOTHING except affinity.

You will have to say about this:

I think to see gains in most games, it would need to be tested on some older version of windows 10, or older windows.

If not tested with multiple versions of windows, maybe some youtuber will post results that you get no noticeable gains with that, but you may still get since they usually test with fully updated systems.
