I expect to see the base threadripper starting from 24 cores to not compete with 3950x, but can a 24 cores threadripper compete in gaming with a ryzen 9?

What do you think?
The leaked Geekbench4 results I posted earlier indicate that TR4 with Zen 2 chiplets will do gaming as well as the Ryzen 3000 cpus. All the results showed all cores north of 4150Mhz at minimum.

I only have one temperature available on my 2920X. I stay below 68° C. all the time with all cores loaded. Most of the time I run around 67.5° C.

I'd agree. And if needed you can also set affinity.

I would think the new Threadrippers would have the same BIOS feature that the Ryzen 3900X has with the ability to turn off CCD's for better gaming. Shouldn't be much longer to find out I think. The paper announcement will probably come later this year. Whether actual silicon makes it to distribution is the question. Certainly by 1Q 2020.

I am super surprised that MSI have not yet released a BIOS supporting the new CPU's on the MSI Meg Creation ?

Probably being held back by AMD and they not releasing the necessary AGESA module for the BIOS to understand the new cpus.

...that, and hopefully, 1usmus even throws in an UNOFFICIAL PCIe4 (if official <> AMD PCIe delete commando pops up, like it did on AM4)

It seems that we will see three new chipset for tr3

One of those should be octa channel. It could be pretty interesting

Not sure if Octa-Ram for TR wouldn't cannibalize their Epyc line, but you never know. I did stock up on Sammy-B / 3866 earlier in the year, so I 'octa' be ready
Spoiler!
