overclocking a 960t with 16gb of ram 4x4gb issues

i have a m4a89gtd pro/usb3 mobo and 4 siticks of gskill pc3-12800(800mhz) f3-12800cl9-4gbrl with a decent aftermarket cooler. ive been reading alot on the 960t club thread that alot of them ar overclocking high with just 8 gigs and am wondering it since i have 16 gigs in all 4 dimms is that hurting my overclocking potential? also is there any difference with trying to overclock the cpu while running windows 7 or 10?

i have also used an older bios than what was on the board because of the fact that bios 2301 will let u change the voltage from auto/manual/and offset but the newer bios 3027 or higher wont its just the offset and im alittle confused on trying to get the volts decent with the offset. another thing i dont understand when u say up the nb volts is thaton the cpu/nb offset which at auto is always at 1.35 or the actual nb voltage which iw 1.28(up to 12.9) while on auto. any help would b appreciated

ive upgraded the motherboard and ram since this post to a m5a97 evo and a 16 gb set of gskill ram and a galamax 4 pipe cooler. i was kinda wondering since the temps with it now never really go past 48c when overclocking it to 4.1if it could still handle going to 4.2 and have reasonable voltage pushed thru it and still be in the safe zone.i think in bios its at 1.443-1.45 in bios and in windows its 1.46-1.48 when running p95 and all.

45nm is fine with up to 1.5v 24/7. Some people ran more but I had a golden 960T and mine didn't really scale past 1.5v anyway.

Intel i9 9900K Coffee Lake @ X8 5309mhz (+47.5%)
AMD FX-8320 Vishera @ X4 5022mhz (+43.5%)
Intel i5 4690K Haswell @ X4 5013mhz (+43.2%)
AMD X4 960T Zosma @ X6 4870mhz (+62.3%)
Intel i7 6700 Skylake @ X4 4709mhz (+38.5%)
Intel i5 6400 Skylake @ X4 4588mhz (+69.9%)

If I remember correctly 4.2GHz was doable with 1.56v as a 4core.Have you unlocked to an X6?

lol thats what ive been reading alot about too but just alittle scared to push that many volts into her still. what psu would yall recommend then i have a 600 watt evga psu atm and to me it does a great job only other thing im alittle off on is the cpu/nb voltage i usually put it about 1.25-1.3 volts and it seems fine but not sure if thats too much for it or not for 2600 on the hyper threading 2000 on the other. no it will not unlock it boots but i never get anything on screen so i just try to push the 4 core as much as i can. can test anything atm till i get a new gpu cause 7950 out of nowhere died on me and no onboard i will have to get some pics of it soon uploaded for yall

I did kill this one https://valid.x86.fr/show_oc.php?id=2171450

Wasn't because of vcore though. Those chips are near bulletproof.

idk man trying to push it from 4ghz to 4.1 or above to me is just way too much voltage for not so much performance and with the new uefi on this mobo im kinda confused with some of the settings cause it have the digi + vrms and i guess just more advanced then the last 1 i was trying to overclock on (m5a89gtd pro/usb 3)
