Your cooling solution may limit things, but hopefully not. I tried the Wraith Spire included with the 1700 on a 1700x and is was not able to maintain the all core 3.5 boost due to thermal throttling, and the fan on that thing was pretty noisy wide open. But the 1700 is a lower TDP processor, might be fine. A CM 212 with dual fans handles it fine, 10 degrees cooler.

I can say with adequate cooling it will run 3.2Ghz on all cores.

Ah ok thats helpful. I will be running in on a cooler similar to the 212, the Gamaxx or whatever its called. Not a world beater at all but I am sure it will do fine, thanks.

Yes, if I load up all cores at 100%, it will drop to 3 GHz on all cores fairly fast

Yeah I remember playing with x264 early on and getting 4fps on the second pass lol.
The 2600x doesn't even need manual overclock. Nice. Yes, yes! 4fps and looking at ETA and shaking the head in despair!

All core boost is 3.2GHz (100% load). With enough cooling it should not be a problem, and these chips run rather cool at stock settings. If you do hit the temp target (I guess +70C maybe?), then it goes to 3.0GHz all core boost. Turbo boost is 3.7GHz at one core (2 threads), with XFR being 3.75GHz. I would not even consider Turbo Boost or XFR of these first Ryzens since you will rarely hit those speeds due to the way modern OS's handle workloads.

Makes sense, mine hits 75-85C load in a small case, I rarely put 100% load on it tho so it's fine
