2600x vs 2700x

trying to put a workstation together for my girlfriend and can't decide between a 2600x or 2700x. She will be using this for photo editing with a 1440 monitor. any suggestion to help with the decision. I do know that the coolers are different that come stock and not entirely sure if there will be any gains with 8c vs the 6c. Probably no overclocking. Leaning towards the 2600x. Would the 2700x be worth the $100 more?

Does she need one right now? Ryzen 3 is maybe 2 months away and will be better than either.

No she doesn't as she is currently using my old pc which is a 3570k gtx 680. just wanted to build a new rig in SFF and the prices look fairly decent for some items on my buying list.

I havent researched it yet but do you think the prices are gonna drop for ryzen 2 once 3 comes out?

The prices of 2XXX may drop when the 3xxxx come out. From what I know 8 cores will be better for a workstation , the 2700x cooler is a good cooler , much better than the 2600x. I would however wait for the 3 series .
