Precision Boost Overdrive How Much Over Max Boost You Have

EDIT Aug 12 2019:Let me start by saying I was wrong and I apologize for any misinformation I supplied due to my ignorance. I was aware of Third-Party Monitoring Tools not being as accurate as Ryzen Master and I just ignored that fact all together.

I have started testing with Ryzen Master only now to see what the actual clocks on my Ryzen 3600X really is.Although I still get over Max Boost as what is written on the box so I have no recourse to complain to AMD or refund my CPU'S.Also they are still fast little CPU's Still happy.

I have only witness Cinebench20 hitting Max Boost on 2 cores as of testing today.I will test some more with different BIOS and if any change is observed I will post back.

Spoiler!

People are struggling just to get 4.6GHz on the R9 3900X

I think the +200MHz PBO is more of a limit than what is expected clocks

On Zen+ PBO is the limit (i.e. it just allows the cores to turbo to 4.35 on R7 2700X, thermal and EDC/PPT dependent).

Reached 4600 on a 3800x with a negative offset of .1. Regularly see 4550 boost on Crosshair Vi Hero.

Nice 3800X on X370 ,do not make me jelly boosting 100Mhz over what's printed on the box.Sweet I should buy 3800X and try it out but I only game and there will be no real difference for me given a few FPS.

Its not wise to undervolt Matisse, unless you enable the OC-Mode (fixed frequency).

That's because the CPU is constantly monitoring its supply voltage.
When it sees the supply voltage below the desired level, it starts increasing the VID request from the VRM controller.
When the VID request increases above the maximum voltage allowed by FIT, the clock stretchers will kick in. Your performance will decrease, despite the change is not visible
in the frequencies diplayed by the usual monitoring software.

For example on the 3900X sample I have, the default VID request during CB20 NT is 1.3125V.
With the offset set to -25mV the VID request raises to 1.33125V or so. At -75mV the VID request is already 1.36875V and increasing the negative offset any further will trip the stretchers.

There is an undervolting margin available, but it is tiny.
The exact behavior will depend on the silicon specimen and the workload.

Its also the very reason why this guy thinks he is running at > 4.2GHz with just 1.00V...

PBO on, Scalar x10, all PBO limits at motherboard max in bios, Agesa 1.0.0.2.

Scalar does nothing on Matisse.
You can change it to 0.5x (not from the bios thou) and there is no change in the behavior.

Have you tried this on MSI boards? OptimumTech is using a Godlike.

Your theory is that his undervolt dropped performance despite him not realizing it. Power consumption is most definitely down since he dropped 20°C.
