Virtualbox VM's won't work anymore ryzen 3800x

I updated my Asrock x370's bios to the latest and have upgraded from 1700 to 3800X successfully. COnfirmed that AMD virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.

Previous virtual VM's fail to even boot up. New ones also have the same problem. I reinstalled VB to no avail.

Any idea what's going on?

Are they linux VMs? If so, there is a bios update coming out to resolve an RdRAND issue. It also fixes Destiny 2 issues. Be on the lookout for 1.0.0.3ABA bios update for your board if you are running linux. Especially versions of Ubuntu.

Issue has to do with RdRAND and collision with systemd.

Yes, Linux. So the problem keeps all Linux distros from even doing the startup init process and fails to start with failures?

At this rate asrocks won't update from 1.0.0.1 to .3aba ever!

You could reach out to them. This is a major patch. AMD just released it to their partners yesterday. Give it time and it should be good. For now you may want to go back to your 1700x.

Also, this issue doesn't affect EVERY linux distros, but a lot of them. Especially newer ones like Ubuntu 19.04. There is a collision that happens between systemd and the RdRAND instruction set causing the process to stall and OS not to boot.

Check this out:

patch to Systemd for now for workaround till Bios update comes out.
