Hi.

Weird issue you're having there. I mean, if the thing didn't work at all when overclocked, something might've been broken, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

What I would start with is checking all the settings one by one in the BIOS. I don't know about Gigabyte motherboards, hadn't had one in 15 years or so, but my Asus boards (I had a 4790k in a Maximus VII Formula before my 3800x + Crosshair VIII Hero) sometimes set stupid values when left on auto. For instance, on auto my motherboard would set the CPU 3.3v auxiliary voltage to 3.6V for some reason. So what I'd try in your situation is go in the BIOS and don't leave much on auto. Anything you know about, any value that you know what it should be, set it manually. VDDP, VDDG, RAM timings, VCore, VSoC, VPP, VTT, auxiliary voltages, PCH voltage, whatever. You know what it should be, key it in. Pay close attention to the AMD Overclocking, AMD CBS and AMD PBS sections, these could be the culprit (or not, I dunno). Also, if your motherboard has the option, set your DDR boot voltage to just above VDIMM, it may for some reason try to boot RAM at a lower voltage causing errors. I had a similar issue with unstable RAM settings on both this system and my old one.

Other than that, check all the connections on the motherboard and PSU. Fans, RGB lights, PSU cables, everything. Maybe also try plucking out the CMOS battery for a few minutes to completely reset the thing. If everything fails... Well, maybe someone else has a better idea than I do.

Hope you get this sorted out. Cheers.

Yea, very strange. The bios settings that I've loaded are the same ones I've been running for about 8-9mo. It will boot with auto core and the memory timings/speed/voltage that I've been using for a long long time.

As far as connections, I just redid everything this morning/afternoon.....runs like a champ until I touch the multiplier or voltage. What's odd is I can set them in Ryzen Master and reboot and it's fine. I even flipped over to the secondary bios(different version as well as AGESA), same result.

I'll keep messing with it.....maybe I'll find the answer...what I should have done when I redid my custom loop was take the cpu out and throw it in my back-up rig and see what happens. That might have narrowed it down to the cpu or the MB. Hindsight is 20/20. If I don't get it straightened out, I will try that. Thankfully, I just went from hard tubing to soft, so much easier to maintain in my opinion.

Thanks for the info....maybe I'll just get a X570 board when I get my CoronaCheck!....lmao

Hey guys, anybody here tried messing with the PCH voltage on X570? I FINALLY found the option for it in the C8H bios, it's in Tweaker's Paradise, the 1.2V SB Voltage option. If set to 1.2V or auto, HWiNFO64 shows the PCH voltage at 1.168V. I tried increasing it a bit to 1.22V (1.2V in Windows) to eliminate my USB audio problems, but no dice. Kinda scared to push further though. Any thoughts? What's your PCH voltage?

Have you tried the whole EDC bug thing. I set my EDC=16 on my 3900x and MEG Ace board, basically the same board you have. I set my TDC=210 and PPT=500 which is what the VRM can supply, with PBO set to manual. Then you should also use the AMD Ryzen Balance Power Plan. I get scores ranging from high 7300-low 7400MT and have gotten with some other tweaks scores of 525 for ST.

I also have a 280mm AIO to keep it under 70C most of the time, like an R20 run.
