Ryzen 3000 (Zen 2) and RAM scaling. How does it compare to the 9900K.

Hardware Unboxed is a youtube channel that does a lot of research on computer parts. He writes his findings from their youtube channel on the website Techspot.

He did the following two articles with the data reused from article 1. to article 2.

1. Ryzen 5 3600 vs. Ryzen 9 3900X vs. Core i9-9900K: GPU Scaling Benchmark

Article: https://www.techspot.com/review/1897...aming-scaling/

Video:

2. Testing 3rd-Gen Ryzen DDR4 Memory Performance and Scaling

Article: https://www.techspot.com/review/1891...mance-scaling/

Video:

Seeing the pattern between both studies, I have combined them together here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...dYQ/edit#gid=0

You can see that getting your RAM latency around 64ns will have it match a 9900K pretty nicely. In the 1% frame rates, it actually beats it.

For the incredibly lazy (you know who you are), I have attached a screenshot that summarizes all of the results.

I understand that it's not all about latency, so this is just an estimate. For every 1ns you can drop in your latency, you may gain about 0.88% in performance. Of course, this may vary by application. You might get 1.5% in one game or 0% in another game.

If you are curious, here are the Manual timings Steve set for 3800 Mhz and 3000 Mhz.
