General consensus | Has ABBA effected your RAM/IF overclocking results ?

Hi,

From reading around I suspect that many people have seen a reduction in RAM overclocks after upgrading to ABBA.

I am of the opinion that it is the changes that AMD made in the latest agesa that is causing these issues.

It looks to me that the issue is not directly related to RAM but a combination or how RAM is interacting with IF that is the cause.

Can't even boot to windows with ABBA F5 bios.
Back to previous non ABBA bios and no problems

Same issues, I posted my thread at reddit link below.

Downgrade to AB works fine.

I should have made my question/poll more specific.

Those who have answered NO, could you post what RAM/IF frequencies you are running ?

The settings I posted above for stable RAM/IF with ABBA are not OK.

They run and passed a good period of stress testing, but in anything gaphics intensive a huge amount of frames are being dropped meanng fps is tanking.

Im troubleshooting to see its becuase of the BCLK overclock, the IF/RAM frequency is too high, or a combination of both.....

** EDIT **

Resolved the IF issue (3770/1885), upped ProcODT to 40 ohms and changed VDDG to 1.0750v and VDDP to 0.950v.

FPS drops have stopped, now to re-run stability tests...........

** EDIT2 **

Forget first EDIT above

to be continued ............

I set DOCP to 3000, FCLK 1800 and memory to 3600MHz and is working full stable. AIDA reports somewhat lower scores (5100/68.3) than before ABBA but other memory benchmarks show same as before.
Thus set, DOCP somewhat ignores XMP and sets it differently (and better).

Thanks for the feedback.

I should have been specific and specified if those who were running 3800/1900 had lost IF stability after upgrading to ABBA.

Regards memory throughput/latency.

For some reason ABBA 'reversed' the roles of BGS and BGS-Alt for me.

Before I ABBA I had to disable BGS and enable BGS-Alt to get high AIDA results, now its the reverse BGS enabled and BGS-Alt disabled !

Yes, I have seen a stability decrease.

3800/1900 mhz | 1.42v | 16-17-16-16-48-32-294-16-1T Power Down And gear down disabled. Was flawless; then with abba I started to get some random reboots or bluescreens with exact same timings. Though, I didn't have time to tinker, so I just enabled gear down and it seems to have cleared it up, with what was a lot less of a performance impact that I thought.

I tested at least 10 BIOS on MSI X470 Gaming Plus Motherboard, they all work fine .There is a difference in Read/write/copy speeds but that changes all the time even between runs and restarts. Here is how first beta BIOS compares to latest abba BIOS,looks pretty identical to me when running CL 16 3800Mhz,even when I run CL14 3800Mhz same results but latency is lower around 62.5ns.

Hi!

Your AIDA results (the margin of difference/regression) are similar to what I have noted when moving to ABBA.

Maybe my issues are optimizations that are made in the new agesa that are for 400/500 series motherboards (im on x370), as by looking at the poll, it does not look to be many people seeing a regression in RAM/IF frequency.
