Chances are you could mod the system to use the Lucas OEM replacement smoke used in classic British cars like Triumph, MG and Jaguar:

It all depends on how much you want to spend and whether you can put a dedicated GPU in it (skip to the last sentence if your sig rig GTX 1060 listing is current).

Both the Ryzen 5 2400G and 3400G have an iGPU, with the 2400G being cheaper while stocks last. They're essentially the same CPU, with the 3400G clocked higher on both CPU and iGPU and with better TIM.

The Ryzen 5 1500X has more cache and is both faster and slower than the 2400G depending on the task, but has no iGPU.

If you have a discrete GPU (your sig rig says you have a GTX 1060), the best bet is to just buy a Ryzen 5 2600 (non X). It's by far the best value CPU out there.

I run my 3770K at 4700mhz. In AIDA64 a stock 2400G is literally nipping at this things heels, in a few I blow it away, in a couple it blows me away.. at stock, and I'm pretty much at my max clock, I have 100mhz more I can run, but at 1.45v. Seems like it would be a good little CPU. Maybe a bit of a side grade if you have something like mine unless you use that CPU as a placeholder for a nicer one on a good board if funds aren't as nice as you'd like.

3770K @ 4600MHz 1.315v/Le Grand Macho RT/TY-143/TF8
Asus P8Z77-V/12GB G.Skill Mix @ 1866MHz 9-10-9-24 2T 1.6v
EVGA GTX 980 Classified @ 1480/2000MHz 1.212v

Based on this, I wouldn't buy a 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen at all except if you are out for MC performance. I only care about ST performance.

See right side for 4770k performance.

If I was insane or just plainly didn't care about the remaining life of my (un-delidded) 4770k, I could easily get 4.6 GHz on it at a VCORE>1.3V on my Noctua NH-D14.

Yeah my 3770K can only handle 4.4Ghz at 1.380 Prime 24/7 stable, but that was in the past... I had to drop down to 4.3 to get rid of WHEA.

I'm only willing to spend about the price of getting a used Z77 board locally plus what I can sell the 3770K and Memory for. That's around 270 USD for the Ryzen CPU, Board, and RAM, but I could spend a bit more if needed.

Just benched a litte on my 4770k 4,5 GHz vs 3600 4,2.
They are about the same in gaming as well as Cinebench R15 I found, though the 4770k was 20 degrees hotter.

I find that hard to believe? 3600 should be beating the 4770K to death on single core?

Can you try R20?

It should. It boosts to 3.9 on one or two cores. If you can oc to 4.1 you are good. At 4.2, you are golden. That RAM should do 3200MHz at DOCP. The Wraith will be better than the Spire and Stealth.
