AMD CPU Equivalent to 3770K?

Looking for a replacement for my 3770K @ 4.4Ghz, and my only requirement is it match or exceed the performance of the the Intel in Single threaded workloads.

And based on what's already been talked about on this thread and light research it seems like a Ryzen 1600 or 1600X overclocked would match the 3770K @ 4.4Ghz single core and absolutely dominate it on multicore?

Spoiler!

Not sure about pricing where you are at. But I would look for a ryzen 2600 or 3600 as that will be a nice set up from what you have.

I compared the Single Thread performance of a Ryzen 7 2700 @ 4.2 GHz and my 4770k's at 4.43 GHz, a very modest OC below 1.3V.

The Ryzen 7 2700 scored 176 Cinebench Marks and my 4770k scored 178 Cinebench Marks.

Based on this, I wouldn't buy a 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen at all except if you are out for MC performance. I only care about ST performance.

See right side for 4770k performance.

If I was insane or just plainly didn't care about the remaining life of my (un-delidded) 4770k, I could easily get 4.6 GHz on it at a VCORE>1.3V on my Noctua NH-D14.

175 single core on an Ivy would put you at about 4.8 ghz or so.

Curious what your 4770k gets on R20? Single and multi.

Sorry, haven't benched on R 20 at all.

In fact, the only reason I benched with R 15 was that I was researching whether it was worth it to upgrade to 2nd gen Ryzen and I found a reviewer website that had benched multiple CPU's witH C15 I could easily compare with my own.

I didn't test MC b/c I am not interested in MT perf.

I found a used R5 2600 for $90 shipped on reddit/hardwareswap. So yeah those chips are a beastly price/performance. 4.1-4.2 most chips and i'm sure will be better than the i7 4xxx
