Ryzen 2600 Shipped in sandwich bag

Legit I received a reddit/hardwareswap R5 2600 in a sandwich bag in a USPS flat rate bag and it has bent pins (no surprise) and when I went to install in my GA AX 370 Gaming the chip on the left side wouldn't drop in the slot.

looks like an easy fix but I'd tell the seller before trying to straighten them

take the lead out of a mechanical pencil and use the mechanical pencil to straighten the pins. ezpz.

For that price you should have gotten better packaging. Actually it should have been shipped properly regardless.

I definitely agree with you for sending it back.

Yep, just pointing out it's an easy fix if the seller decides to be an asshat and doesn't want to refund you if you wanted to keep it. If you're going to grab a 3600 instead then I guess that's not happening.

If you have a few positive sales and you show proof you got a defective product the mods (assuming you're dealing on /r/hardwareswap) are usually pretty good with stepping in and helping. I only had to get them involved once but they were awesome.

Get in contact with them before opening a dispute on PayPal though, the mods won't step in and help if you already opened a dispute and they'll tell you to let PayPal deal with it. Plus a lot of the time just having a mod step in and wave the ban hammer around is enough to convince them.

So for anyone interested in the results.

I contacted the seller who told me he didn't have the $$ to refund me and didn't want to pay shipping to return the CPU. I filed a paypal dispute and after he didn't respond they refunded me the entire $90 purchase price.

Now here is my ethical dilemma. I was able to get the cpu to work (It's a "tight" fit and requires some slight pressure to install and difficult to pull out of the socket). It runs fine at stock and will run 4.1 ghz but the case airflow isn't the best (CM Masterbox 5). I honestly wouldn't pay for the CPU and would've returned it before using in the condition received.

So what do you do from here. Use the "fixed" CPU as a freebie or contact the original seller to see if he wants the CPU back and get something on black friday.
