I'd like to see you bring new improved products to the market and sell them the same price as your last gen product.

I mean I get it, it's not in your budget, but think about it, a lot of people bought 7980XE when it came out and that was $2000 MSRP, same for 9980XE and here we're talking about a 4 year old generation tech re-re-re-refreshed. There's definitely a market for AMD's threadripper line-up and I feel that prices a tiny bit high, but easily justifiable, no one else offers quad channel with 24-32-48(?)-(64?) overclockable cores other than AMD, that exclusivity alone is worth a considerable amount.

edit : proof -> https://valid.x86.fr/rnsg7f
I don't have a budget, I can spend what I feel to not be fraud.

If mainstream can get a 16 cores for 750usd, if intel can sell a 18 cores for 1000usd, 24 cores for 1400usd is simply a fraud.

We all expecting the same performance per dollar value on hedt too a bit lower is reasonable, but hey, no way that a 24 cores costs two times a 16 cores in the mainstream platform.

lol that 18 cores for 1k is the same 18 cores it was like 4 years ago for 2k until they were forced by competition to drop the prices. I think 24 cores with higher base clock and better multi threading performance and some other features is ok to cost more than 18 cores with less performance and a few less features. Kinda makes sense to me 18<24.

It's so cute how people gained this mental image of AMD as a charity, existing to give you stuff for free. Now that they're a big boy in the game again and charging prices like their competitors, people get mad. They just can't win.

No they just can't act like intel because they are not intel and with similar performance per dollar people will always choose intel due to the "better ecosystem".
Intel is a giant and AMD can't competein many areas specially with software optimisations and compilers often optimized for intel

AMD must offer a lot more to cost like intel, it can't offer something for for much more money. This will not work.

Yes 6 more cores at superior IPC and 50% more PCIe lanes all at Gen 4 is definitely not more than Intel is offering. No sir.

all that pcie lanes is worthless, no one could use all that lanes in a real world scenario.
superior IPC? yes but inferior frequency due to the increased freq of the new intel cpus.
pcie 4, yes it's cool but not that can make a difference today.

Okay. Please tell me how things are going on 4c/4t i5 processors in 2019.

Those PCIE lanes are great for doing work where you need more than one GPU and want to run multiple NVME SSDs... not to mention if you need any other PCIE cards like 10G fiber or something. Just because you don't have a use case for it doesn't mean many others don't.

So what’s down? This is AMD therefore all prices will drop twice next year. Just wait a little;-)
