Hi guys!

I am going to be putting a build together here soon that includes:
3600 with a hyper 212 evo
Msi b450 pro carbon
16gb 3200mhz cl16
5700xt

Now I have played with my fair share of ryzen 2000 builds but this is my first 3000.

I have read so much mixes results. Some say not worth overclocking as stock boost algormiths will be better performance then a manual all core OC. And that pbo+auto OC is broken?

Basically all I have read is memory tweaking is best and just to leave the cpu clocks alone.

Any feedback or comments on this??

Yes all you said are true. AMD 3000 CPU's already come with almost max frequency. Where Intel its different, there is a lot of overclock potential where AMD will be at 4.1 or 4.2 as a overclock stock out of the box. You can maybe push 200 more Mhz and I doubt that. As for RAM AMD really likes RAM and the way it uses it they are picky about motherboards and reaching the full speed. In this case you could possibly fix it in BIOS and what not.

I'm looking to put together the exact same build. Sub'd for info, will ping you if I find any good deals today.
I've heard one other person state they got a boost in FPS from 180->210 from reducing ram latency alone.. never heard of anything like that before today ????

Currently playing: Apex Legends (XBox One)

Most reviewers say it's not worth it, cool the CPU as best as you can and let it give you it's best performance where one or two core will excel. Now you have some OCNers saying that overclocking all cores the same even if they don't boost as high as one or two cores will be faster.

So it comes down to, do you want to put in the effort to find out for yourself? I myself will, just in case my 3700X is that one in a million. Actually, I would have had a better chance with a 3800X. But still, I like to tinker and will test both methods out for myself.

Hrmm I might do an all core OC just to see what I can get and do some of my own testing I guess. See what r15 scores are like after testing a few setups.

Ram speed and FCLK clock tweaking is still something I need to do more reading into.

Every time I build a PC, that takes up the most research and you have to be up on the mobo as well as the CPU. Joy!

everything is worth overclocking.
even gameboy benefited from overclock, if you liked faster game play

as to amd 4.1, 4.2.... isn't that only on core 0-2?

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

Guys go for the 3600x.
Some months ago the difference in price was a reason for some people to select the 3600.
But now it doesn't worth the trouble not to get x version which is almost sure it will clock higher.

Go 3600x and overclock. While it does a great job out of the box at boosting it doesn't do as good a job as a manual overclock. As with oc'ing anything monitor your temps. If you want a place to start here's a list of voltages/clocks for 3600x that I got stability with.

3.8ghz @ 1.1v
3.9ghz @ 1.15v
4.0ghz @ 1.18v
4.1ghz @ 1.2v
4.2ghz @ 1.23v

ONLY APPLY THE FOLLOWING IF YOU HAVE EXTREME COOLING, ESPECIALLY 4.4GHZ

4.3ghz @ 1.33v
[email protected] 1.35v
4.35ghz @ 1.37v
4.4ghz @ 1.42v

Always remember you're unique, just like everybody else.
