Damaged cooler on arrival, what to do?

My Ryzen 9 3900x just arrived and when I took the cooler out of the box I saw one of the copper pipes was damaged. Problem is, Amazon said they do not have any more in stock. So my options are:

1. Return it for a full refund and sit around until I can find it in stock on Newegg or Amazon
2. Keep it, get a 20% refund ($106) and buy a different cooler.

I have no idea if the CPU is damaged or not, and I can't find out for at least another week or two (when I am able to get all the other parts). Good news is though, they said I have until January 31st to return or get the discount so I do have that option of waiting and see, I just don't know if it is even worth it.

What would you guys do? Should I reach out to AMD about it since it was a brand new CPU? Photo attached

EDIT: I highly doubt I will ever make this thing super hot so I'm not too concerned about actually needing a better cooler, unless these are known for running ridiculously hot or something.

Personally I'd take the refund and buy another cooler.

go on' take the money and run.

that's enough cash for a top tier air cooler, and most of a high end AIO.

$106 refund for a dented pipe?

Devils advocate: Test the CPU for basic function using that heatsink, take the $106 and get yourself a far superior AIO cooler for (almost) free. Chances are that heatsink just got knocked or took a fall during packaging and the CPU is fine.
Angel in your ear: Return and wait for replacement

+1 to the above - Nothing like a free upgrade plus you get to keep the old one too.
And I'll be honest - I don't believe the performance of that cooler would be impacted much, if at all.

I'll warn you whatever you decide to get would probrably say in it's listing/description "AM4 compatable" but in reality that only means the cooler is capable of handling a Ryzen - NOT that it actually comes with the mounting hardware an AM4 setup needs. There are some good coolers out there that lacks the hardware to use with an AM4 but the product's listing says it's compatable, I ran into that earlier and fortunately for me I can still use it with other stuff, just not what I had bought it for.
In fact this is the one I got and did an anonymous review about it: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16835106216

If you can verify it has the needed hardware to mount onto an AM4 board go for it, if you can't then pass and keep looking.

Press the Return or Replace button!

Then take the money and find another cooler equal to the task. The dent may not affect performance but you bought new and expect a pristine item not an eye sore.

That's quite a generous partial refund. Learned a new trick to use later on lol. That heatpipe, while dented, will still work, but not as well. Marginal difference, I'd guess. Remember that the heatpipes on the baseplate are basically shaved off for flatness too, though I don't know if they changed the inner proportions of it to compensate for that. Diameter still isn't 6mm, though, so less thermal transfer capacity. Regardless, the thing is fine.

If I had that cooler, it would sit in the box anyway as a spare. If you can get $106 for it and not feel guilty (karma, law of attraction, blah blah), then grab it and run.

As long as your case has good ventilation and you are running stock/conservative clocks, the included cooler with these Ryzen chips is actually pretty good. With that said, $100 will get you a Noctua NH-D15, which is much better.
