CPU cooler for 3900x

Would the Deepcool Gammax 400 be enough for the 3900x?

the gammax 400 is decent wee cooler for the money. Fan is a bit loud though. Don't think it will be that much cooler than the box cooler though.

I have it on my 1800x right now so i'm used to the noise. Is it an acceptable cooler or should I opt for the box cooler or even something better?

I run the H150i Pro from Corsair, but if I would buy again I would certainly go for Noctua NH-D15. I have the NH-D14 on my old 2700X and it can take enormous amounts of heat without bending down. The fans are also very quiet. NH-D15 is even better, it's probably the perfect 3900X cooler afaik.

If you have it, test it. New ryzens 3000 are hot, but not because of high power consumption. So choosing a cooler for it, should involve more than dissipating capacity, which is an error that many do, like you see in this very thread.

Will you be overclocking the 3900X?
What are your ambient temps? esp. during summer.
Lastly, what is your budget?

I'd be fine with it around 4.0 or 4.2

It is in my basement so it's always pretty cool down here.

Honestly I don't even know what that means. Some options or pointing me in the right direction would be helpful.
