Worst FX-8320 ever to be made!

Well, maybe not the worst EVER but I just picked up a 970 Pro Gaming / Aura and an FX-8320.

Quick specs:

970 PG / Aura
FX-8320
H55 cooled with two fans at full blast
GTX 1060 6GB
4x8 @ 1866 because this chip refuses to run at 2133 lol
CX750M PSU

*Voltages required for IBT and Prime stable. Game stable / AIDA / Cinebench and Performance Test run fine with about -0.025 less voltage*

4.4ghz needs 1.524v
4.5ghz needs 1.548v
4.6ghz needs 1.608v
4.7ghz needs 1.654v (temps getting into the 70's with IBT)
4.8ghz needs 1.675v or so, fails IBT, temps into the high 70's but VRM tems are in check (active cooled). Game stable however.

I haven't messed with a Vishera in a long time, but why does this thing need so much voltage? Bad chip, bad voltage reporting?

From my experience the 8320 was never good clockers. The 8350 was a the better clockers ad they were binned.

I had multiple 8320s and most did 4.4GHx easily but only one would do 4.8GHz

Where as all my 8350s easily did 5Ghz and above

I guess so. I need to just pick a 9590 up and get busy lol.

Here's a 4.6ghz run (CNC enable, C1, C6 and all that enabled. No APM or HPC).

1.608v peak, finished 10 runs but it stated to throttle at the end due to VRM temp I'm assuming... Not sure what would cause that tho *sarcasm*

And why am I getting such low IBT scores? I remember getting like 70-80ish a few years ago.

You are waaaaaaay tooooooo HOT!
The first picture shows it hitting the maximum temp for the cpu on the relatively light load of cpuz's benchmark, IBT or prime 95 doesn't have a chance of being stable.
The low scores of IBT probably mean you are using the non-avx enabled version or you are throttling immediately due to heat. Use the version here https://www.overclock.net/forum/10-a...ners-club.html to be sure it's the AVX one.

Disable cnc and all other power saving features.
Use hwinfo for monitoring - ,gives you much more information and will let you know when you are having errors in the cache - a weak point for FX.
Without the proper LLC settings, my CHVz's have over .11 V of droop , what level are you using?
With FX temps over 50C at overclocked frequencies can effect stability and 60 C is max temp for 8 series Vishera's.

In general on FX to get 2133 mhz on the ram or better ( assuming the kit is capable, what is the exact kit you are running?) requires 1.65 volts to the ram and a bump in the cpu/nb voltages.

Can I ask where you found the motherboard?

Be honest, behind the facade of those things, the real priority is just screwing everyone over in the name of obscene profit & delaying any kind of backlash as long as possible. That's the real world.

That's really garbage lol

My old 8320 did 4.5Ghz with 1.475v, and people still told me was too high, but the 9590 I had was doing 4.6Ghz 1.45v.

I was able to do 2133 10-12-11-30-41-2T, with 1.3v CPU/NB (2600Mhz speed) and 1.65v ram voltage. On 9590 tho.

Pretty much what I was alluding to. CPU/NB V at default for many motherboards is 1.2 or less - which is why i said "generally" ( 990fxa gd 80 is 1.175). Have to be careful about talking in absolute terms with this hobby , there's just too many variables .

Yeah, I've just been running the hell out of it. The ram can and has ran at 2133 9-12-11-34 1T on an intel system, but running CPU-NB anything above 2400mhz (even at 1.45v) or 2133 just doesn't work. I haven't tried pulling two sticks tho.

I bought two non working boards. I fixed a trace on the back of this board I'm using now and it's fine. The other board had the LPCIO chip bashed in from a bad GPU install. Bunch of bent pins. I separated the pins, but I have to jump the board (power on switch doesn't work) off the LPCIO to get it to boot. So one is 100% working and the other is okay for a test bench.

I have the same board with an 8320e and 2800MHz ram which ran at 2200CL10 on my 6300...which did 5.1 GHz @1.57v.

I have spent maybe 3-4 hrs on the 8320e so far and it's pure &^#$...have not even posted anything over 4.5 so I mothballed to the closet for later tinkering. Had real hard time getting RAM set, and some reason I only get 1 stick showing SPD in CPUID, even though windows shows 8GB installed. I may have stepped on of the RAM modules some time back so idk.
