Ryzen 4000 series ?

I never payed attention to the ryzen 3000 series, until yesterday. 7nm really did put AMD right back in there. I have an i5-9600k and I wanted HT, so now I'm very tempted to get a r7 3700x and cheap mobo for ~ same price as an i7-8700k. The r5 3600 would be fine too, but now I want to beat the 8700k and even 9900k. But in some games, the single core performance can lag. And I have time to wait.

So I wonder is AMD on track for a ryzen 4000 release by summer at the latest ?

its what I'm waiting for to jump off of 9700k, but I wasn't expecting it (based on nothing) until Q3.

I should've stayed on X79

Ok so this year then, that's fine with me. I have almost NO reason to upgrade, but by next fall that will be almost 2yrs on this system, so that's not so bad.

I'm sure intel will be out in front again in games, but not at the price of ryzen. I want 8 cores and 16 threads for sure.

I can't believe I never looked at the benchmarks for ryzen 3000's

What do people think they will cost ? Like what would a 4700x cost, and would the price in 3700x drop much ? I know intel prices don't, and 2nd hand can be pricey even back to used 3770k

It's rumoured that the 4xxx series will be released near the end of the year and not the summer. Of course, this is merely a rumour so take it with as much salt as you can get your hands on. If you are satisfied with your system then there's no need to upgrade and just use what you have.

It seems that Aug would be the time frame (Q3 is July to Oct right?) but considering the buzz that AMD got from CES about their mobile processors I can't imagine they would hold out to begin making money and then push their higher end chips for X-mas once the community starts discussing the offerings with real world usage.

I am personally looking forward to it's release whenever that is since I have been eyeing the 3700X for a while.

Unless the 4xxx's replace the 8C/12T with a 12C/24T CPU then I don't think you need to wait. The 3700X isn't bottlenecked by any game or consumer workload so I think it's more than good enough.

You don't think there will be a significant price drop if the R4xxx becomes a hit?

Also waiting for the Ryzen3/4000 chips.
I need fastest single core with low heat low latency. Which is why I’ve been using i7 4790k’s, just popped in my last NOS/NIB chip last summer.
6700/7700/8700/9700k’s all great CPU’s but in single core use not much better than my 47’s.
Same old 14nm with more cores, more heat more latency.
Not good for 1U builds.
3700X is a decent chip, runs cool @65 watts, but unsynced DRAM for anything under 3733 MHz. Again adding heat for the sweet spot.

Dr. Lisa says IF will be tweaked and a unified cache will come in Ryzen3.
That’s worth waiting for.

Tiger Lake will be fighting Ryzen 3.
This is going to be good for us.
I’m not gaming, but real-time audio number crunching at lowest possible latency.
Software is still reliant on single core mostly.

Great though that the software has to catch up.
Been doing this since CPUs we’re behind, and 10k SCSI Cheetahs were the rulers.
Poor software guys struggling to address 32 threads these days....

Exciting times for us.
