I actually found a good overclock today on this chip that doesn't require much voltage at all. 4.1GHz @1.20v. Passed CBr20, AIDA64, and Prime95. Indeed it needs a lot more voltage for very little frequency gains beyond that. I'm finding that raising the base clock some tricks
the BIOS into posting with higher RAM frequency where it would fail to POST if I used the dividers alone.
Passed Prime95 at 4.1GHz/1.2V?! Really?

Yeah but we are talking right at the edge...any more frequency at that voltage is a no-go. This chip sample must have low leakage, and the first clue was that it was running at stock at 3.7GHz boost with less than 1 volt. I swear most of my AMD chips are usually high leakage voltage hogs.

Man i must have got a real dud.

I can only get 4.0 stable at 1.4v and memory to 3200 with loose timings.

Not sure if its worth trying higher clocks above 1.4v? i thought it was stable at 4.1 and 1.4v. Ran Witcher 3, cinebench and even aida64 no problem, but then would crash on Timespy.

Hi guys. New around here. I also got my hands on a R5 1600 AF and i want to mix it with ID-Cooling SE-234-ARGB + ADATA XPG D41, 8GB DDR4, 3000 MHz, CL16 X2 but the motherboard is still in pending but i will try to get ASUS TUF B450M-PRO GAMING for it because here in my country the AM4 MB are very low in stocks. I never did an overclock to anything that i owned. But with this one i want to do a safe one if possible. I don`t want to win an award or something but i want to raise it a bit. Can i get a few pointers? On how can i start safe or the simplest method to bump it up.
Thanks in advance.
PS : The motherboard is not here still some issues with the order .. i might go for something like B450 AORUS M from GIGABYTE if this ASUS does not go trough.

When you have it built, just read over your motherboard manual, familiarize yourself with the BIOS settings, learn how to manually CLEAR CMOS (just in case you take it a little too far and it won't POST), then dive right in.
