First gen ryzen 1600 and rx5600xt question

I just built a new PC but am using a ryzen 1600 first series and bought a 5600xt today.

Would I see any increase on fps in my 5600xt if I switch to a 3600. Would it be worth it to spend the 175 plus tax on the 3600.

Currently on 1080p

You most likely would see decent increases in fps in poorly threaded games- games that push total cpu usage over 90% and at settings that don't push the gpu over 90%.

What are you running for a motherboard and ram?

IMO, it isn't worth it. I'd recommend waiting for Ryzen 4000. Meanwhile, oc the R5 to at least 3.8GHz. Also, try to oc the RAM to 3466 CL16 either using XMP, raising the speed from 3200 to 3466 and setting the voltage to 1.37 or 1.38v. Get some air flowing to make sure ram is cooled properly.

You can also try the DRAM Calculator.

maybe a bit but not with just a 5600xt. I have a 5700 thats OC'd to 5700XT levels and my old 1600 @ 3.8 ran just fine. Just OC that puppy if you want more frames or wait for Ryzen 4000 series.

Thanks I appreciate it. Looks like I'll keep my 1600 for awhile
