Wait for Zen3 or what Zen2 should I get?

Well my daughters computer with my old i5 2500K has taken a dump... I am giving her my current CPU, mobo and ram setup(i76700k, 32gb 3200 ram, with asus pro gaming board) and I am going to get me a AMD setup...Already ordered the Asus Tuf mobo, and my big question is, I know Zen3 is around the corner. We have no real idea besides leaks how the performance is. Should I get a lower tier 3000 series like a 3700X and wait on the 4000 series or just go for a 3900X/3950X??...

I would like some opinions cause other than hardware news I read, I haven't been eyeing a new build at all. Now that I have to and thought it is AMD's turn after 3 intel builds. So 4000 series worth the wait and just get a lower 3000 series for now?

I would go ahead and grab a Zen 2 processor now. I assume you're talking about the X570 board so you won't have to worry about Zen 3 compatibility. When Zen 3 comes out, it's a BIOS update and drop-in upgrade.

i just built my rig 2 weeks ago put a 3900x in it with a x570 and im very happy with it i was thinking of waiting but i decided id rather have a rig im happy with then waiting forever to see what comes out next worst case with our x570 we can upgrade down the road if its a nice enough boost.

Yes I am talking about X570 board. I was surprised newegg business had them in stock when the newegg.com site had them from OTHER sellers.

Get a R5 3600 and upgrade to an 8 or 12 core Gen 3. Your TUF an X570? The newer R5s are clocking really well.

You can also wait for the R7 3800XT in July.

I would say pick a good 570 board or even a 550(When reviews are out) and one of the new refreshed cpus (1 month??) 3800xt maybe and call it a day.

In 2-3 years you will find a 4th gen for cheap.

I wouldn't even wait for the refreshed CPUs. Just get something today and experience the performance immediately. There's not need to wait for a refreshed processor. The performance difference won't be worth it. There's no reason to wait for Zen 3, which is several months away. If you get Zen 2 today, you can upgrade to Zen 3 day one if you so choose. There's no benefit to waiting.

This unless you actually have a NEED for more cores right now. Can sit on the 3600 for 6-12 months and then bump it all the way up to the very best CPU the platform will ever handle..
