Top of the line Aorus Extreme but only has x6 SATA ports? well that board is out for me then
Was looking for a board without a fan as well but i would rather take the fan and put in quiet mode if thats the only way to get a board with x8 SATA ports

Hopefully fan will run in hybrid mode, then probably will only spin up when both m.2 ssd slots from chipset will be battered with heavy load.

Looks like that Gigabyte board is EATX - not good for case compatibility -- I went through that with the Asus C6E , not again .

GamersNexus said it is probably coming in around $600 USD. So.. uh yeah.

Im much more interested in the Master since it's more like $350 USD. Idc if it has a fan or not frankly.. ill silence it myself if its a problem.

I have heard brief mention of 0 RPM modes, I think that was at least on the MSI boards.. Im going to assume all the vendors are smart enough to use a feature they've been using on their GPUs for quite some time now.

My old Asus Rampage IV Extreme had a tiny high speed fan on it that was loud as hell but you could turn it off in the BIOS
Pretty sure all of the X570 boards will have either a hybrid or quiet mode or both so it sounds like its a storm in a glass of water

Why complain about it even before the boards are out and we know anything?

No chance to go the M.2 route? I only have a single SATA drive, everything else is M.2.

The system i have in mind is a media server with at least x4 HDD´s maybe as many as x6 and i will be re-using the two 12 TB and the 14 TB i have now (the 12 TB initially untill 16 TB shows up)
Will also have a Blu-Ray drive which i am still using regularly and at least a 2 TB AHCI SSD

NVME is a waste of money for my use case its not going to be faster or better in any way so waste of time and NVME dont go above 2 TB anyway at least not that i know of and are affordable
AHCI M.2 SSD´s still use the SATA ports so makes no difference what i get

Unless there is a 50 TB or bigger NVME storage option that is affordable i dont know about?

Edit: both the new Asus Crosshair Hero and the Asrock Taichi has x8 SATA so i dont know why its such a big problem to add two freaking ports on the new Gigabyte and MSI boards?

Kinda like the X570 Taichi

I think PC noise is a concern for quite a few. Those fans are what 45mm? If ppl are going to run the boards in "quiet mode" what's the point in even having them/pay for them? There's got to be a better solution.

I believe the fans are there as an extra safety and i dont believe the fans will need to run faster than low speeds for most use cases
Sure a 45mm fan will be loud but only at higher speeds which might not be necessary most of the time

As i said the boards are not even out yet so we dont know anything and i might be wrong but we dont know at this point
A big chuck of metal to cool down the chipset like we have back in the old days might have been better but there would be complaints about that too
