ASRock X570 Extreme4

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the ASRock X570 Extreme 4 motherboard yet. I'm unable to get my hands on any of the Gigabyte boards I was considering for X570 and so stepping up a bit in price, I have options such as this ASRock board and the likes of the Asus Prime X570 Pro and I'm really stuck on what to do since I've had no prior experience with ASRock at all never mind their new stuff. It's replacing my sig rig and the current thought is to pair it with a 3600X and a 1660Ti or a 5700 for now with option to go farther later on. Any thoughts are appreciated thank you

It is basically the same as the X570 Steel Legend but $30-40 more. Steel Legend actually has an additional Displayport , Extreme4 gets 1 x Front Panel Type C USB 3.2 Gen1.

The power delivery is decent for 8 cores , it's using 8x SiC634 powerstages from Vishay semiconductor but all 8 powerstages are on one heatsink. Asrock focused on features for X570: it is one of the cheaper boards with ALC1220 and Intel LAN.

For $250ish I would be looking at the Gigabyte x570 Aorus Pro WIFI which is similar but with stronger power delivery and also a better heatsink and featureset. If you want to go with ASUS there's the Prime X570 Pro.

For $200ish (price of Steel Legend) I would be looking at the Aorus Elite if using 12 cores (note that it has ALC1200). For 8 cores the Steel Legend is fine though.

Alphac what boards would be best for the 12 core cpu ?I love the taichi but hate placement of the front usb type c jack on the board,Most gpus will cover it leaving it not being able to use it.

Asrock is apparently giving out USB 3.1 gen 2 type C front panel right angle connectors to fix their design mistake on Taichi.

Anyhow, for each price bracket:
<$170 : don't bother they're all cut down extremely

$200: Aorus Elite , TUF X570 Plus (if you can deal with no Intel LAN... , no fan stop)
$260: Aorus Pro , Prime X570 Pro (no fan stop)
$360: Aorus Master , MSI x570 Ace , Crosshair VIII Hero (missing 3rd M.2 , no fan stop)
$500+ : Aorus Xtreme , MSI x570 Creation (if you need the USB ports)

If Taichi drops a bit more (it's $290 now after rebate) then it's a good option but it is missing fan stop option I believe

If the Gigabytes are not available the Steel Legend I would say it's a pretty solid choice, would only go for the taichi if I would get the 16 core and want all the Taichi features.

I got the Steel Legend when the Aorus Elite was out of stock and I'm pretty happy with it. I have the same boost issues that everyone seems to have with 1.0.0.3AB (only boosts to 4350) but otherwise seems to be a solid performer. The chipset fan is quiet enough that I can't tell it is running, even on the performance setting.

Forceman's Law: Any AMD/Nvidia GPU thread, no matter what the topic, will eventually include a post referencing the GTX 970.

Are you saying the Extreme4 would be insufficient for a 12 or 16-core? How so?
