Crosshair V Formula-Z ROG Connect CPU OC multiplier issue

Hoping someone can help out, exhausted troubleshooting this...
I had over the past few months been having success overclocking an old FX6100 using ROG Connect.
Pushing super hard I finally fried it and dropped another FX6100 in for more play.
When I did, I found that all my OC controls seem to work but the multiplier causes windows to flash and lockup with even a small bump (16.5 to 17.5x).

This has been a journey but I'm running out of logical things to change/fix, The first install was not this complicated, also interestingly for some reason the boot SSD just works without issue right now, whereas the prior boot SSD/MOBO needed some setting I never got my arms around and had to save into an OC Setting slot so I didn't lose it (after messing with it endlessly).

During the course of troubleshooting I've:
Blown the MOBO (good story/ugly) and replaced it (issue not resolved)
Changed the boot SSD
Changed the Power Supply (Gold to Bronze 80+)
Changed the RAM up to 2600 and back to original 1333 Kingston
Changed the Control PC
Updated BIOS to 2201, Reverted to 2002, Back to 2201
Loaded the USB updates
Changed CPU's (other 6100, 6300 and 8350)
Reset CMOS, Recommended Settings, and back to basic OC settings
Uninstalled and reinstalled ROG Connect
Changed GPUs
Changed PCI-E slots
Changed ROG Connect Cable
Lots of messing with BIOS settings (i'd like to believe there is something to be gained here)
Installed rog connect plus on both computers... (again)
Installed AI Suite on the CVFZ PC...
Flashed back to original and mid life bios...
Installed NVidia GEForce drivers and ran with my GTX 1060 6G...

did find that the Ethernet port didn't work despite being enabled in bios,
got sick of trying to be logical about it and turned everything "on" and got it to work... (WTH)

Also BTW, AI Suite works fine (just like BIOS OC does)
I would just prefer not put that load on that PC (also interferes with ROG connect, going to have to uninstall one or the other)
so to be clear the CPU at these settings will OC to an 18x mult stable in its current state...
...just not in/with rog connect ?? (Still/now)

If one day ROG connect just stopped working for you, what would you expect it to be?
