Own an Asus CH6. Bought a Sabrent Rocket PCI-E 4.0 SSD. Results inside. :)

As the title states..... I have an Asus Crosshair VI Hero and I have desperately wanted to try PCI-E 4.0 I had a feeling it would just work.

CH6 BIOS 7201 still has Gen4 support enabled. So I USB Flashbacked 7201 onto my board, cloned my ****tier m.2 OS Drive SSD in a PCI-E X4 adapter to my Samsung SM951 m.2 SSD and switched them. I then installed the Sabrent Rocket Gen4 500GB SSD into the onboard m.2 slot, booted, selected Gen4 in UEFI for the m.2 Link and rebooted.

Made a partition in Windows 10 upon bootup and tested the drive first thing. I was greeted with picture you see now.
Read: 4918MB/s, Write: 2671MB/s. A.K.A Gen4.

I thought there would be stability issues, so I loaded up Borderlands 3. A game that is currently punishing basically every system it runs on. The ONLY way I have gotten it to play even REMOTELY well is to put it on its own SSD. The SM951 in fact is what it was on. By itself. Nothing else. This setup was replaced with the Sabrent Rocket Gen4 SSD, there is actually a difference in smoothness. The game is as perfect as it's going to get until the first major patch is released.
That game THRASHES a PC's HDD/SDD subsystem, therefore testing whatever HDD/SSD it's on quite thoroughly.

So far (This requires more testing than playing a game for 5 hours) there hasn't been a single issue. Usually with things like this (Not my first unofficial PCI-E support Rodeo, anyone remember X79?), it either works or it doesn't being digital in nature. Intermediate issues, likely, would have reared their ugly little heads by now.

Let me know what you think people. I believe since the X16 slot is even closer to the CPU, it will work as well.

You can force instal microcodes improvements by swapping it into a raw bios file by using UBU tool, by instance.

Nice! Which GPU do you have? I ask because Borderlands 3 plays perfectly on my system. With DirectX 12 enabled I get between 70-80 FPS on Badass at 1440p.

GTX 1080Ti.

I have a feeling DX12 will play better on AMD cards. Especially a Radeon VII.

My R5 3600 could be causing issues though. I should really put my 9900k system together. I just delidded it and got stopped dead in my tracks removing the indium solder. I have a direct die kit and cant wait to test it.
