Crikey! Ryzen and USB 3.1

uh.. yikes. I just hit a problem with my x570 board. I go to make a large transfer with my external USB 3.1 gen 1 drive and I found out it just completely divebombs in transfer speed to the point where even my mouse and keyboard suddenly become non responsive. Then windows acts like it resets the device, all connected devices work again. Now, I've tried the same drive on the USB 2.0 circuit and it pulls at a steady 38.5-39 megabytes a second, and all usb periphs work perfectly.

I've been digging around for a while and I'm finding it's a pretty widespread issue but haven't found a fix yet. Anyone got an idea of what I can do to get USB 3.1 working properly? I've tried updating the BIOS and I've cleared the CMOS thinking that may be it. But no dice.

If this thread is in the wrong place, let me know and I'll post it in the proper area.

Did you install all of the motherboard chipset drivers from the manufacturer website?

Actually, they link old chipset drivers. Best bet is to just download them from the AMD website. The latest ones are from 2 weeks ago.

Yeah, I grabbed the ones from AMD. Nothing changed.

I wonder if there's a weird issue between the X570 chipset and the 2700X when it comes to handling USB.

No issue at all with Ryzen. USB3.1 handled by the motherboard, which can be made by any number of manufacturers. So first off you need to say what motherboard you are using.
