B450 Tomahawk BIOS Update Question

Hello all,
I need to update my motherboard in order for it to support a ryzen 3000 series CPU. Should I download the v1.80 BIOS from MSI, which was the update which made it compatible with the 3000 series, or should I download the newest BIOS v1D?

I heard that sometimes you have to download an older BIOS first, then the new one, or you destroy your motherboard.

Thank you for the help!

Yes and no
There can be issues if you update from the board within and make such huge jumps
BUT ~ as your board supports USB Flashback
(MBR FAT32 Formated USB)
Use this and directly make the jump
USB Flashbacks are full chip flashes (SPI Flashes) ~ there are no traces left
