Help me pick most adequate board for 3700X.

I’m going to upgrade to a 3700X system in the coming months when I find good sales and want to pick the right motherboard. I’ll be using the GPU, PSU, HDDs, the EX920 M.2 and the PCIE Plextor, case and cooler from my current system(see rig specs).
Things I’m looking for:
**A mid to high end board but nothing too crazy as I won’t be doing extreme overclocking, note I do plan in overclocking.
**good or better overclocking, thus good VRMs
**it will be a single GPU system forever
**I want to run three or four large capacity HDDs
**I plan on getting a second M.2 for OS or for the games(right now the ex920 is my OS and steam games disk, plextor has other games)
**RGB preffered
**wifi is not necessary
This will be an everyday rig, some gaming, media server. I love tweaking my PCs to the extent that I’ve lapped my last two CPUs, and my current 4790k is delidded and overclocked 24/7 for several years.

Based on my fair bit of research and I narrowed down that i don’t need a x570 board(unless great bang for buck). The specific board’s I’ve looked into are the ASUS STRIX X470-F, the Asrock X470 Taichi, the MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon. I had an asrock board long time ago and had issues with it so that’s why I got the current asus, so that has left a sour taste.

If the x570 boards come down in price enough to consider, what would you recommend? From what I’ve seen so far of the x570s, my top two choices would be the Gigabyte Aorus Elite and the MSI MPG gaming edge.

If I’m missing any information just holler and I’ll fill in the blanks.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hey. You might want to check this:
. Stay away from MSI! Everything under Unity sucks big time (I have the Gaming Pro Carbon and I hate it very much). I think X570 Aorus Pro looks like a good choice here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...-PRO-rev-1x#kf. But the Elite sounds good enough, if you can deal with the fact that it does not have a Type C on the back plate and only a mid board one.

Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain.

Thanks. But I don’t think I’ll be spending that much on a X570 just for pcie 4.0 which I won’t be taking advantage of anytime soon.

Honestly based on what you described, I'd just go B450

You honestly don't need a very beefy board

Yeah exactly, my current Z97-A isn’t a beefy mobo and has been great for many years.
Thanks for the link, I’ll definitely dig thru that come the time.

Seems like the B450 Tomahawk/Max offer the best options for the money from what I have seen.

I have a big bang house. I had all the materials for my new house brought in and dumped on a vacant lot. I took a stick of dynamite, lit the fuse on fire and tossed it into the pile of materials. BOOM went the explosion and when the dust settled I had a new house! Amazing isn't it?

So, having little time with it I decided to enable PBO, set XMP for the ram and call it a day.
His build was my first Ryzen exposure and then with all the hype, I’ve had the itch for a ryzen build. Here’s what I built him: R5 3600, Coolermaster 212 Evo, MSI Tomahawk Max, Gskill Ripjaws V 16GB 3200 ram, Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT.

Looks like a good system for your friend. I've been following Ryzen and the 450 Tomahawk has had nothing but praise from OCN'ers and YouTube Reviewers and they always harken back to this board. That would have been the board I would have gotten if I wasn't going PCI 4.0 (see Fast n' Cheap build in sig).
