Help me increase CPU speed a little with OC

Hi

I have the cpu 3800x and motherboard Asus tuf + wifi x570. I am new to OC however the OC tuning set my speed to 4.2GHz and VDDCR voltage to offset mode 1.296, CPU ratio 42 and it run normally. I am looking to increase it to 4.5GHz however when I set the ratio with same settings to 45 Windows hangup after few minutes of starting. so what I need to change ?

Since you are new to overclocking... I don't think you understand how Ryzen 3000 series works?

Your 3800X won't overclock to 45x with all core/threads loaded.

The chip is specified to boost with 1 core maybe 2 threads to 45x for just quite brief light usage only.

For overclocks with all core/threaded loads your chip will probably get up to ~43x(+) range provided you have a good silicon sample and very good cooling.

Currently running Ryzen 9 on (X570) ASUS Crosshair XVIII (Wi-Fi) & ASRock Taichi with GSKILL Flare X (B-die).

I dont see the CPU reach 4.5 GHz on benchmarking so is it possible ?

You most likely won't see your chip hit 45x while benchmarking.

You will only see it boost to 45x briefly in Windows desktop while idling or with light usage bumps while monitoring with something like HWiNFO64 to record the core spikes.

With PBO your 3800X might boost to ~44x(+) with CB R20 (single core) but CB R20 (all core) will run much lower speeds.

For example... My 3900X (4.6GHz max boost) will run CB R20 (single core) with just some cores/threads hitting ~44.50x/44.75x/45.00x but while running CB R20 (all core) my chip runs the bench lower with all cores/threads loaded ~40.50x/40.75x/41.00x.

Currently running Ryzen 9 on (X570) ASUS Crosshair XVIII (Wi-Fi) & ASRock Taichi with GSKILL Flare X (B-die).
