MSI X570 Creation/Godlike Overclocking & Discussion Thread

MSI Prestige X570 Creation

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRESTIGE-X570-CREATION

MSI MEG X570 Godlike

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MEG-X570-GODLIKE

Merging both boards into one thread as they are very similar, almost the same memory compatibility according to the QVL and overclocking both boards should be quite close to each other.

Note: The Creation has built-in 10GB ethernet where the Godlike has a separate PCI-e 10GB network card.

After much research, I decided to go with the Creation over the Godlike. I prefer the built in 10GB ethernet and after checking the memory QVL for the AMD 3000 series CPU's they are pretty much identical.

I'm going to CCX overclock using a fixed voltage at first, hope to test it at 1.325v tops, then go Adaptive.

I have a 3950x, the Creation, two memory kits, 4x8GB Trident Z 16-16-16-36 non-RGB B-die 5WB and 2x16GB Trident Z Neo 16-16-16-36 3600 B-die 5WB

These boards are Daisy chain so I'm really sure the 2x16GB will work better than the 4x8GB. Going to test both configurations when I get my AMD Optimus Foundation waterblock Tuesday.

Here is an MSI X570 Prestige Creation bios with all the SATA, RST, GOP and Ethernet firmwares updates to the latest version. It's been tested and running on my PC currently. It already had the latest microcodes, and I can make a Godlike or Unify version of the BIOS on request.

It can be flashed with MFlash. It's the latest official MSI BIOS version.

It is too big even WinRar compressed to attach it here as a zip file so I uploaded it to my Google drive.

If you're going to flash the unlocked BIOS, rename it to MSI.ROM and put it on an MBR USB. You make that with the RUFUS tool.

Then put it in the USB flashback slot and flash it that way.

A lot of the stuff and the AMD Overclocking menu never showed up until I flashed it that method.

I'd love to hear about experiences (and settings) with the Godlike. With this 3950X I'm only doing about 9450 in Cinebench with PBO on full auto and 3600 RAM on XMP. Seeing a lot more from other boards with basic PBO / XMP, but maybe that's the lottery for you.

I had trouble with the PBO bug on my Godlike, only getting 4.1GHZ all cores in Cinebench.

I think it's not working right with MSI boards.

However, on CCX overclocking I have 6 #1 benchmarks in Blender OpenData benchmarks for a 3950x.

Oh, and the newest BIOS is a hot mess. Options missing, overclock now unstable, BIOS freeze every other reboot, need to power off PSU.

Went back to the unlocked 1.0.0.5 BIOS I posted earlier in the thread.

Edit: I can share my BIOS settings when I get home, but my CPU has a golden IMC, not sure the memory settings would work for you.

Well I'd love to give it a shot, thanks. I'm able to squeeze out a bit more by cranking DRAM up to 3800, clocking around 9580 in CB R20. Playing around with voltage and scalar generally didn't do any better than full-auto PBO due to throttling, which echos the review sites' experience as well. I'm not sure this Fractal Celsius is cooling it as well as needed for real clocks, but I haven't seen higher than 71C.

Earlier in the thread it's mentioned that 9500 is baseline for PBO across the boards, so I'm okay with that for now.

I've been running the latest BIOS you posted above, thanks for that. One issue I have with the board (across BIOS versions even) is that Vive controllers are constantly dropping out for good, requiring a complete SteamVR reinstall to get them back. I've tried everything; it works just fine on an old MSI MPOWER. *shrug*

Long week at work. I'll try to get you my BIOS settings soon. The best way is Imgur, then link them here, but it's a pain.
