Any small amount of research concludes that the 630 is faster than the 710 in all respects unless you got a model with more vram, then all you would have is more vram. I say if the 630 still works, give the 710 back.

PCI-E 3.0/2.0/1.0 should all be intercompatible, no idea if there's a specific chipset issue but it's the first I heard of it.

i'm sorry but i'm very sure there are pci-e 1.0 mobos that are/were compatible pci-e 2/3 due to the crosstalk of the traces. (ie pci-e 3/4 is facing now)

1 to 2 increase bandwidth; 2-3 was protocol (8/10).

maybe i've had too much wine atm, if so sorry.

edit: hold it: that still doesn't . .

ok sorry, its the vino . .

not totally the vino apparently some 2.1 slots didn't play nice with 2.0/1.0?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express

Quote:
The increase in power from the slot breaks backward compatibility between PCI Express 2.1 cards and some older motherboards with 1.0/1.0a, but most motherboards with PCI Express 1.1 connectors are provided with a BIOS update by their manufacturers through utilities to support backward compatibility of cards with PCIe 2.1.

I don't own anything that uses PCI-E 4.0 but it shouldn't have any issues with 3.0.
