Lack of inventory

I've been trying to build an AMD personal server and I can't find inventory on AM4 boards anywhere. Does anyone have any info on why they are sold out everywhere and when they might be fixing this terrible supply issue? I want AMD but Intel doesn't seem to be having this issue and I can't wait too long. Thanks in advance.

I too have noticed a lack of inventory and high prices on motherboards and CPUs. Taiwan is in business so there should be no shortage of motherboards unless their Chinese factories are still down. Stores are selling old stock from last year so it seems they are just emptying their warehouses now.

Yea I figured it would be something to do with the virus but that doesn't explain why intel is in stock for pretty much everything and AMD boards are sold out unless it's the ridiculous $600 boards. And these 3rd party scalpers are out in full force on Newegg and Amazon. Really disappointing...

AMD has been selling that much more probably. Anyone buying Intel is waiting for the new cpu's and motherboards while pretty much all AMD cpu's can run on any AM4 mobo. Supplies from China got cut so this is the after effects. June 20th is when the resupplies are hitting retailers along with the new B550 boards which will be the #1 selling motherboard for the new cycle.

For context, I live less than an hour from the headquarters of Intel, AMD, Google, HP, FaceBook, EA Games, Twitter etc. There is not a single AM4 motherboard in stock at any retailer for 200 miles. There are plenty of Intel motherboards everywhere.

Figures, every time I go to buy something it's always the most popular thing lol. Should have seen the website stalking I did to get my 1080ti at release. I can wait 10 days if everything is going to go back to normal by the end of the month. Thanks for the info.

I ordered an Asus B450 itx motherboard from Amazon 3 weeks ago and I just got it yesterday. The board happened to pop up for available order and after I placed the order it was immediately gone again.

I have a big bang house. I had all the materials for my new house brought in and dumped on a vacant lot. I took a stick of dynamite, lit the fuse on fire and tossed it into the pile of materials. BOOM went the explosion and when the dust settled I had a new house! Amazing isn't it?

cuz rona.

despite what MSM keeps saying, China is very clearly still not back to business as usual. Factories are understaffed, so what's coming out is basically all but already accounted for, making it hard to find them without waiting in line.

Agreed. How did China stop corona in its tracks? If it was that easy, you'd think the rest of the world would have a cure by now. I don't believe it. From John Hopkins world map: 84,378 confirmed cases in China. That number has barely changed since March. ...unbelievable.

It's not just me. Been looking for an inexpensive B450M with wifi. Getting hard to find.

The shortage in AMD MB's also tells a great story about AMD vs Intel. Not hard to find an intel board right now.

184 AMD B450 MB's listed on Newegg
Only 54 listed "in stock"

766 Intel 1151LGA (300 series) listed
509 listed "in stock"

a company that has 77% market share has more stock of a product that contains two chipsets than a company that has less market share and ONE singular chipset?

color me surprised, lol.

The story is: AMD is cutting into Intel's market share. And looks like it will continue to do so for the next few years. If you don't see that, then I guess you would be surprised.
