Ryzen Upgrade from 1090T Help?

I have fallen out of the loop from a hardware stand point and was looking to upgrade my current pc setup for under 500 bucks if possible. I mostly play POE, Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, and might eventually play WoW again. Other than that the pc will mostly be bill paying and watching youtube/streaming hulu and internet surfing.

I saw the Ryzen 5 1600 was on sale at microcenter for only 79.99 and was tempted to pick one up if its worth it. If I did go that route what would you recommend as far as memory, video card, and motherboard to go with it? I would like to start with the main components to upgrade. I don't really overclock either just let the system do it or just run with what I have.

Thanks for the help as I am lost as to what is decent nowadays as far as hardware due to not keeping up. I would also need a new windows 10 key.

Op, if you don't mind getting Win10 key in the site suggested. There might be one US based. If you are a student, your school might get a discount in Windows OS.

Total: 455$ before Tax.

RAM - !00$

Alternate RAM (160$ B-Die)

Motherboard - 215$ (R5 2600 is a tad faster)

GPU - 130$

Win10 – 10$

I would highly suggest going with the alternate RAM. You can talk to Micro Center see if there is a R5 1600 in a bundle. Then the money saved goes to the alternate RAM.

Unfortunately not a student atm. This all looks good and I forgot to see what they offered for combos. For another 45 to take it to an even 500 is there any other graphics cards that would be better or is it all going to be around the same performance or not needed? I will go with the better ram suggestion.

Thanks again for the suggested build above.

Is there something wrong with your current rig? We have the same AM3 motherboard and it oc my PhenomII X 6 to 4GHz. If it can, then just get a GTX 2060 and wait for Ryzen 3000 and X570 boards.

Mine is currently paired with a GTX 1050, which is slower than my HD7950.

I was gonna suggest the RX 570 8GB but i want to stay at 500$ mark.

BTW, the 1090 will bottleneck the 2060 but it will still be a massive upgrade from the 6870. Massive. The RX 570 alone is already a massive upgrade for you. About 4X faster than the 6870.

Just been starting to stutter/skip a little when I have been playing diablo 3 and POE. It's not overclocked at the moment because I couldn't get it to be stable but if you wanna help with any suggestions there I will give it a go. Would be cheaper just to upgrade the graphics card and overclock it anyway.

It was more so I saw the Ryzen cpus getting cheap and was wondering if a quick cheap upgrade wouldn't be bad.

Its your gpu. Current Ryzen will get cheaper in a few weeks when the new CPUs come out. At 4GHz, it should handle the RX 570 just fine. It will bottleneck but you'll get better gaming experience. I had my Phenom paired with a R9 290 (equal to RX 570) and i had to oc the cpu to 4.2GHz.

So look for a RX 570? Then if needed to try to overclock the cpu some?

Yes, it will be massive upgrade from the HD 6870. Save some for when NAVI gpus come out then do a proper upgrade. Not sure if your cpu cooler is up to the task but shoot for at least 3.8GHz.
